8 months, 92 pounds

It's been a little over 8 months since surgery, and I'm down about 92 pounds.  Well, give or take, because I keep gaining and losing the same 3 pounds.  Annoying.

Anyway, I've found that it's difficult to have perspective on how much weight I've lost.  I mean I know I'm smaller, but it's incredibly hard to make that sink in psychologically.  So to help, I had my husband take pictures of me on Monday after my pilates class so I could compare to my "before" pics.  I've posted below.

The before pics were taken on 7/11/08, 8 days after sugery.  I was at 255lbs.  As of Monday, 3/9/09, I weigh about 163.  In theory, I should probably try to lose another 20 pounds or so (I'm only 5'2" so 140 pounds would be a decent weight for me), but really, I'm thrilled with how things are right now.

Political Quiz

Found this via She's a Rebel.

I'm surprised I'm as far to the right as the graph indicates, but that's probably due to my libertarian leanings.

Pants!

Over the weekend, I decided that my need for new pants had reached a critical point.  I was having to use a belt to keep my jeans on, and was pretty tired of pulling my pants up constantly.  So off to JC Penney's I went.

Now here's my normal routine for buying pants (which I HATE shopping for).  I find the styles I like, and then I grab two different sizes of the style I want to try on.  When I go to try them on, I try on the smaller size first, so that in case those don't fit, I still have the bigger ones that probably will fit.  It keeps me from being all sad and depressed when pants are too small.  Sad, I know, but this is the kind of mentality you get into when  you're morbidly obese.

So I grabbed my obligatory two sizes of pants.  But the smaller size fit!!!  All three styles I picked out fit perfectly!  This is seriously the first time I can remember, I found pants that I like and was actually able to wear them without compromising on either comfort or fashion.  It may not sound like a big deal, but for me, this was HUGE.  I almost got a little weepy.

And the best part?  They're a size 12.  Sonofabitch.  Seven months ago my size 22's were getting snug.  That I'm comfortably wearing a size 12 blows my mind.

Sweeny Todd

Bailey and I (and Kevin for the last 1/2 of the film) watched Sweeny Todd last night.

I wasn't expecting much from the movie, and it's a good thing.  Yes, Johnny Depp was great in the role of the psycho barber.  Helena Bonham Carter was also good, as was Alan Rickman.  But I just couldn't get engaged in the film.  It was visually exciting and very textural (if you ignore the super fake orangey blood), but the story itself wasn't compelling.

I'd say thus far it's my least favorite Johnny Depp film to date.  Okay, second least favorite.  Nothing will quench my disappointment in Pirates 3.

Between Kevin and I we now have a Netflix list that's over 270 titles long.  We have issues.  Any suggestions for a weekend film to enjoy?  It's hard to choose from that gigantic list.  I'm leaning toward Lars and the Real Girl, or Man on Wire, but there are so many great films out there that we haven't enjoyed yet, it's impossible to decide.

Where have I been?

I found a cool little app that lets you create a personalized map of where in the US you've visited.

It looks like I still have quite a bit of traveling to do!
